They all had such great chemistry and bounced off each other really well. I felt that every single band member in their own right stole the show. It had a group of fantastic characters, it was fast paced and had an immersive and detailed world. ⁣įor me, Kings of the Wyld was an enjoyable fast paced read that really highlights why the fantasy genre is one of my favourites. A place filled with nothing but the worst monsters you could think of and death around every corner. This may be their most dangerous journey yet as they must once again journey into the Heartwyld. Although Clay is reluctant at first, he joins his in reuniting the band. He brings news that his daughter Rose is in trouble and this requires the band to once again come together and save Gabriel’s daughter. Then out of the blue turns up Gabriel aka Golden Gabe, Clays friend and the picture boy of Saga. Clay however has been out of the band game long enough to settle down with his wife Ginny and young daughter Tally.⁣

Bands such as Saga are basically adventurers and are seen as your modern day rockstars. The Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames focuses on the character of Clay Cooper who twenty years ago was a member of the mercenery band, Saga.

“There’s your title right there,” said Ganelon.“ “Who wants to read the self-pitying lamentations of an old revenant?” Top: French cover by: Pierre Santamaria.“ You should write a book,” Matrick suggested. Neither one really fit their characters, and since Ganelon was my favorite, it irked me a little to have to hear something so far from what his character should’ve sounded like… aside from that, everything else by the narrator was executed flawlessly. With all that said, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Jeff Harding’s narration of Clay and Ganelon. Clay Cooper, the main character is typically everyone’s favorite, but I absolutely love Ganelon! The magic is given to us through enchanted weapons, instruments, bags and whatnot, and there are some very funny moments with a few of these enchanted items. This is a novel based on a band of mercenaries, that are treated like rock stars while also intertwining 70’s rock culture to the characters and the plot creating a world unlike any other! The plot, while not very complex, is an absolutely fun quest filled with many dangerous monsters, beasts and flying ships. “This day, this moment, is when you step out from the shadow of the past. I recommend this book to almost every single person that asks me what they should read, it’s that good! So you could say that this book holds a special, special place in my heart! I now own it in paperback, ebook, audiobook and signed hardback. This is a re-read of the book that I read in July of 2018 that brought me to the world of fantasy, and reading as a whole, which ended up taking me to being a book blogger.
